A Big Win for Canadian Craftsmanship: Guide Woodworking Takes Platinum at the AWMAC Awards.
It was an honour for Guide Woodworking to be recognized at the AWMAC Ontario Awards Gala, held at the historic Fairmont Royal York Hotel and celebrating the best in architectural woodwork across Canada.
I’m incredibly proud to share that Guide Woodworking received the Platinum Award for Best Institutional Project for our work at Queen’s University in Kingston. This project — a significant renewal of the historic John Deutsch University Centre — brought together Canadian rift-cut white oak and intricate curved millwork to modernize a beloved campus landmark with warmth, precision, and respect for its heritage.
We were also pleased to receive an Honourable Mention for our work on the NHL Offices in Toronto. This renovation presented an opportunity to not only integrate the warmth and natural presence of wood into a modern professional space, but also to incorporate meaningful memorabilia and historic elements — creating an aesthetic that celebrates the legacy, traditions, and unmistakable identity of the NHL.
These acknowledgements mean a great deal to our entire team. In an industry defined by precision, integrity, and long-standing craftsmanship, being recognized by AWMAC — the organization that sets the national benchmark for architectural woodwork quality — is incredibly meaningful.
A sincere thank you to Nick Anastas, President of AWMAC Ontario, Laurie Suikki, Association Manager, and the judges, sponsors, and industry peers whose leadership and commitment continue to elevate the standards of our craft.
Congratulations to all the nominees and winners. It’s a privilege to be part of a community that embodies what makes our industry exceptional.
